D2.2 - Papers on European and Chinese healthcare system legal background (M12)

Health Law in China and Europe: Legal Frameworks and New Challenges
The work collects the first results of a research in health law, whose principal aim is to show the core elements of health care regulation in Europe and China and to implement a dialogue system between the Countries in this field.
The results of the investigation are organized in three chapters: in the first chapter the main features of Chinese and European health care organization systems are described. As in the European Region there’s not a unique health care system, the attention is focused on the principal models of health systems in Europe: the Bismarck model and the Beveridge model. In the second chapter, the relationship between the traditional Chinese medicine and the Western medicine is analysed, setting the basis for further considerations about their combination and complementarily. The first contribute is a survey about the spread and regulation of non-conventional medicine in the European countries, while the second paper is focused on pharmaceutical law. Then, the third paper shows the relationship between food and medicinal products, through the example of botanicals and their regulations in the European Union. Finally, the third chapter is dedicated to the problem of cost-containment, with special regard to the European context.
