The Medical Acupuncturists Association of Bologna (AMAB) was founded in 1986 with the aim to study, promote and disseminate scientific research on Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The Association's activity is then on several levels: training, research and health care. On training plan through a three-year course organized by AMAB and reserved for doctors.
The course is recognised by FISA (Italian Federation of Acupuncture Societies), which represents the majority of reality of Acupuncture in Italy. On the welfare plan, AMAB manages a non-profit clinic of acupuncture within the national health service in Bologna, where acupuncture is provided to elderly patients suffering from degenerative rheumatological diseases and arthritic conditions.
In terms of scientific research AMAB participates in scientific studies in collaboration with several Universities and Regional Institutions. AMAB counts 558 doctors associated; it offers a continuous scientific update through seminars, masters and an Annual Congress at its 27 Edition. This one represents the most attended in Italy. AMAB has signed collaboration agreements with several institutions such as the Neurological Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Bologna, the Local Health Agency of Bologna and the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Nanjing.
AMAB has close relationship with the College of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Bologna, that is recognized as the oldest University in Europe, founded in 1088.
in the framework of research activities as well of dissemination and outreach events, AMAB cooperates with prestigious associated institutions such as: Middlesex University London, University of Rome Tor Vergata, European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association.
