Prof. Attilio Mucelli, as Coordinator of CHETCH, has been invited by the scientific committee of the 12th World Congress of Chinese Medicine, held in Barcelona (September 24th, 25th and 26th 2015) and organized by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) and the European Foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (FEMTC), to have a presentation.
With David Graham, Chen Rixin and Fu Zhonghua, Attilio Mucelli has been one of the keynote speakers of this very important conference. The title of his speech has been “Interdisciplinary and international research projects for the Europe's global competitiveness. Theoretical aspects and empirical evidences” and was one of the presentations of the opening congress ceremony.
During his presentation, Prof. Mucelli has stressed the important role played, at European level, by interdisciplinary research projects and by the interaction of many different, but integrated, points of view and perspectives in the humanities, the social and medical science. With the help of some international research projects in which he is involved at different levels (Chetch and Poreen in particular), he has tried to draw a picture of some theoretical aspects and empirical evidences.
The participation at the congress has been very high, with more than 1.000 participants, come from the entire world. The success of the congress can be connected to the following aspects:
- traditional Medicine is the world’s fastest growing industries;
- there are more than 120,000 TCM practitioners and acupuncturists at present, and the European patients with TCM treatment has exceeded 5 million per year;
- Spain (the congress was held in Barcelona) is one of the first countries in Europe that started the education of Chinese Medicine and health care and is also one of the countries which promotes Traditional Chinese Medicine the best.
- the development of Chinese medicine is advanced in southern European countries such as Spain, Portugal and Italy, where there are many practitioners of traditional Chinese Medicine, clinics, education and training institutions, and research institutions.
