On April 25st 2014, Daniela Caruso, CHETCH WP2 leader and the junior researchers, Anna Perna and Roberta Perna had a meeting with Mrs Zhao Hong.

She is Deputy Division Department Director of the Department of International Cooperation of SATCM – State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of People’s Republic of China. It is a state bureau under the Ministry of Public Health formulating the guidelines, policies, laws, and regulations of TCM, working out department rules and regulations and supervising their implement. It also is responsible in order to formulate, organize, implement and develop strategies of TCM, drawing up intermediate and long-term developing projects and annual programs, supervising appropriation of special funds and loans and emergency allocation of TCM resources in cases of disasters. Moreover, it guides the therapy, nursing, rehabilitation and health care of traditional Chinese medicine, integration of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine and nationality medicine, supervise the production and trade of the Chinese medicines such as organize vocational training, scientific research, technology development and protection of intellectual property rights. Finally it also promotes and develops international scientific exchange and cooperation and making plans on export and import of Chinese medicines as well. Then, SATCM is responsible for administrating and developing Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology (TCMP) in the framework of the modern science. During the meeting some issues relating to the integration of TCM and Western Medicine, China healthcare policies, economical aspects of the integration and the medical education Chinese system have been discussed.
