CHETCH project was driven forward at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) early this August with the arrival of eight members from FEMTC and AMAB.
As the only university specialized in traditional Chinese medicine among all CHETCH institutions, NJUCM paid great importance to the launch of this project and organized experts from related colleges, affiliated hospitals and pharmaceutical companies to participate in it.
With the aim of integrating traditional Chinese medicine into the healthcare system in European countries, obstacles and challenges concerning law, economy, culture as well as proofs of clinical efficiency are being explored by experts from three different countries. Affiliated hospitals of NJUCM (including Jiangsu Province Hospital of TCM, Nanjing Hospital of TCM etc.) are helping researchers collect treatment information and economic data in gynecological, acupuncture and some other departments. More research opportunities had been provided by introducing some key laboratories owned by the university. Meanwhile FEMTC and AMAB experts had been showed around some pharmaceutical companies like Kanion and Haicang, and all sides showed great interest in their future collaboration both in project research and healthcare market.
SC member Zhang Xu firmly believes with the joint effort of researchers from various disciplines, this project will promote the integration of Chinese medicine and western medicine, enhance the internationalization of TCM. Meanwhile with the person-to-person communication, valuable experience could be drawn from CHETCH in handling the future challenges of healthcare in China.
